Client: The Travel Convention (TTC) is an annual overseas event run by The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

Delivery: The last destination before the global pandemic was the amazing Tokyo. To keep the event’s own style slightly away from ABTA’s core brand, something that we worked on to evolve every few years, we decided as a team to step away from the heavily corporate look and start to tie in the destination to the design. I created the final look based on the structure of the high rise blocks and billboards in Tokyo with subtle impressions through blocks and layout. Imagery is important for the representation of the event.

I made sure that the design would still look clean and corporate with a slight flare of the fun lights in Tokyo by outlining text areas and images with colours from ABTA’s brand palette, following these on from the chosen colours of previous years.

Although the design was based on Tokyo, the client and our team were pleased with the new look and layout that we decided to continue the design for the following year as the design is not completely restricted to its original destination.

Media: Brochures | Web design | Email design and html | Stage design | Large format signage | Delegate packs | Social media graphics | Additional print materials.

Client: Institute of Travel & Tourism (ITT)

Delivery: One of the main projects my agency has worked on with ITT is their annual overseas conference. Similar to ABTA's convention with a three-day event covering business sessions, excursions and social events. Each year a different location needs a design theme that centres on the destination. The concept then has to be carried out on different media from marketing the event 12 months prior to creating multiple touchpoints at the event itself.

Originally the themes were based completely on the destination but the designs needed more structure and a brand vision that could be recognised every year. I came up with a clearer and conservative look that helped the copy stay in focus for the numerous heavy informative pages and marketing material. This method helped with creating a brand look for the event itself rather than a completely different look each year.

Client: The Travel Marketing Awards (TTMA) hosted by the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Travel Group (CIM TG)

Delivery: TTMA is an annual awards ceremony which takes place in London's West End. The design each year is based on bold bright colours and a cube award trophy which is mimicked in the event's logo. Once the theme colours are chosen the main focus is creating the marketing content via catchy headline titles for weekly e-news.

My role was to direct a team and liase with the marketing department to create catchy headlines which are corresponded with photoshopped imagery in the tones of each year's colour theme.

Coinciding with the TTMA's I also built a responsive microsite for a sub-event along with it’s own brand style.

Client: Celebrity Cruises

Delivery: Creating staging graphics, large format displays and communal signage and interiors for Celebrity Cruises' Travel Agent Appreciation Awards and ship launch events.

On some events I stepped out of my Graphic Design shoes and took on the role of interior styling. Creating an environment with minimalist furnishings and decor and blending these with large ship imagery to create a spa-like corporate event for an audience of journalists and Cruise industry professionals.

Client: Avis Budget Group

Delivery: A global sales summit for the car rental company was organised in just under 7 weeks. The whole agency worked together to source entertainment, travel, accommodation, venues and my own input, to create the branding, signage and a large scale installation as a focal centrepiece.

Themed around Be Extraordinary the style had to use the corporate colours and fonts but create something that could be adapted for conference business sessions, a Greatest Showman welcome party and an awards night.

The installation was a huge success on a relatively small budget. I worked with a local events balloon company to produce hanging helium balloons in the corporate colours and one giant Be Extraordinary balloon that could be seen from the reception desk area. The brief was to create something that could be viewed on all three floors of the conference venue. The best way to achieve this was to use the space between the spiral staircase from the reception area to the top floor conference theatre. The installation also had to sustain the temperature of the venue for the three day event so timing the set up was of the utmost importance.

Client: Travelzoo

Delivery: Travelzoo is a global online travel deal website. My agency was asked to design and programme Travelzoo’s Safety & Security and the Global Traveller presentation for this year’s ITB Berlin – the world’s largest tourism trade fair. The project included artworking a White Paper Report, creating an interactive online infographic map and an interactive PPT presentation, including an After Effects opening video. Working directly with the client in the UK and US to convey the message of security through infographics. Making sure each slide was engaging with the audience.

Media: Interactive online map, interactive PowerPoint, White Paper Report, infographics, After Effects video intro.

Client: Forefront Partners Limited

Delivery: Forefront Partners Ltd is a regulatory, risk and compliance consultancy practice which focuses on the cannabis industry.

I was approached by one of the business partners to create a brand for this startup that was clean, clear and professional. There has been a significant change to UK legislation in regards to cannabis, which have now made it legal to produce and prescribe products derived from the drug. The brief was to create a brand that was cutting edge to reflect the industry it operates within but keeping it professional to gain the trust of top pharmaceutical and CBD businesses. They wanted the use of the cannabis leaf incorporated into the logo subtly without it looking gimmicky. By using a simple leaf shape that I drew up from a cannabis leaf I took these elements to build the ‘F’ of the logo, which then could be used as a standalone logo/graphic as well as within the full logo set.

Client: Hargreaves Films

Delivery: Hargreaves Films is a London wedding videography company that describes their style as down to earth candid videos with a bohemian, artsy, hipster flare.

Starting the process with a questionnaire to help not only myself but the client to understand who their audience is and what they want to achieve from their brand. This gave them the opportunity to really look where their business was going and realise that they didn’t fully understand how to pull all elements of marketing and branding together. With this information I created a moodboard to set the vision of the brand and see if I was going in the right direction.

The client wanted a graphic element they could use alongside text and with no direction of what this could be I researched into the name ‘Hargreaves’. I discovered the name comes from having lived in Hargrave. The place-name is derived from the Old English elements har, which meant "hare" and graf, which meant "grove." From this basis, I focused on the hare being a prominent part of the graphic. The client loved the idea but wanted to steer it away from looking cute and feminine so I created a geometric style to give it a masculine approach and keeping the fonts in the boho style to tie in with ideal client.

Client: Bailey and Mitchell Photography

Delivery: Bailey and Mitchell are a married couple running a documentary style wedding photography business. Although looking for a rebrand, they wanted to keep a mountain element from their original home made logo to represent their love for the outdoors. After getting them to answer questions about their ideal client and how they wanted to represent themselves I took this information to build a brand that spoke to their customers but also displayed their own personalities as well. I was able to create an identity that they fell in love with during the first phase of design.

With a hand-drawn mountain and swapping the colours to a more earthy palette, I gave the vision of the outdoors more prominence than their original logo, thereby giving it more personality. The final phase of the design was to produce a typography logo and independent graphic only logo.

The couple then diversified their business into prop hire and so asked me to create a further logo that followed through from the photography business.
